Rathcoole Christmas Lights was set up over 22 years ago by a group of volunteers. It is just one of the amazing examples of community spirit that makes Rathcoole such a special place to live and do business. Every year these local volunteers give up their time to turn Rathcoole village into a captivating festive light show. The task of fundraising, administration, putting lights up, taking them back down again and everything in between is carried out by this team of volunteers.
The funds were usually raised by the annual Christmas Fair, however since 2020 when the Fair could not take place a
"GoFundMe" page was added and is still used today.
Before 2020 Santa arrived at the Old Courthouse/Library building to give every child a present and also turn on the Christmas lights. Now Santa will still travel down the main street and stop off at some of the housing estates but he no longer stops at the Old Courthouse/Library building.
Hopefully Rathcoole will be lit up bigger and brighter than ever this year.
To help us make this year bigger and better than ever, we are hoping to raise €5500 to add new lights and replace the broken ones. Every cent of the money raised will go directly to the purchase of Christmas lights.
